nwn-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/adventure-polish/SKILL.md

adventure-polish is a skill for Claude Code from Txpple/nwn-mcp. It costs 62 tokens per session (4,007 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A consistency-checking step for a Neverwinter Nights adventure module. It reads the adventure plan and checks that its parts fit together.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to audit and repair the plot, areas, environment, characters, quests, challenges, and interactive objects in an adventure module.
Why use it?
It catches missing links, broken references, unreachable areas, and quests that cannot be completed before the module is finished.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00062 $0.04007
Opus 5 $0.00031 $0.02004
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00801
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00401

Security

Grade A, and why

adventure-polish scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 350 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Polish

Sub-skill of /create-adventure. Reads all sections of adventure.md and systematically audits the built module for inconsistencies, broken references, and gameplay blockers. Fixes problems as it finds them. This is a cross-cutting pass — every prior skill's output is treated as a source of potential issues. Downstream skill (/adventure-rewards) uses the corrected module state to assign final XP and loot values.

Prerequisites

  • adventure.md must exist in the MCP temp directory ($MCP_FOLDER_TEMP, defaults to $TEMP/nwn-mcp or /tmp/nwn-mcp) and contain completed ## Plot, ## Areas, ## Environment, ## Actors, ## Quests, ## Challenges, and ## Affordances sections.
  • A module must be loaded. If none is loaded, call load_module using the module name from adventure.md.

Workflow

Fully autonomous. Investigate → identify issues → fix them. Do NOT ask the user for input.

Pre-Check: Validate adventure.md

Read adventure.md from the MCP temp directory. Verify these sections exist and are non-empty:

  • ## Module
  • ## Plot
  • ## Areas
  • ## Environment
  • ## Actors
  • ## Quests
  • ## Challenges
  • ## Affordances

If any required section is missing or contains no content below its heading: STOP. Output: "ERROR: adventure.md is missing required section [name]. The prerequisite skill has not run or failed. Cannot proceed."

Phase 1: Read Adventure Context

Read adventure.md in full. Build a master reference of expected module elements:

From ## Plot:

  • Module name, target level, tone
  • All named locations (each should be an area)
  • All named NPCs and their roles (quest giver, villain, merchant, etc.)
  • Main quest objective and win condition
  • Expected antagonist types

From ## Areas:

  • List of all areas: resref, name, tileset, dimensions
  • All documented door/transition links (from area A to area B)
  • Which areas are safe vs dangerous

From ## Actors:

  • All NPC resrefs, tags, dialog resrefs, positions, areas
  • Ambient creature placements

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

adventure-polish is a skill published in the GitHub repository Txpple/nwn-mcp (11 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 62 tokens to every session and 4,007 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
