rpg-sound-director

rpg-sound-director is a skill for Claude Code from vstrapasson/rpg-marketplace. It costs 270 tokens per session (2,799 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tabletop role-playing game skill that writes prompts for generating music and keeps a campaign's soundtrack stylistically consistent. It defines elements such as instruments, mood, tempo, era, texture, and recurring sounds.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create scene-by-scene music-generation prompts based on the campaign's fiction and shared audio style. It writes prompts but does not generate the music.
Why use it?
It prevents music prompts from producing a different style for every scene or tool.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00270 $0.02799
Opus 5 $0.00135 $0.01399
Sonnet 5 $0.00054 $0.00560
Haiku 4.5 $0.00027 $0.00280

Security

Grade A, and why

rpg-sound-director scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

RPG Sound Director (system-agnostic, dark-leaning by default)

What this skill is for

Turn the fiction the kit already wrote into music-generation prompts, and keep every scene sounding like the same campaign. The worldbuilding skills describe how a place feels, how an encounter's threat reads, how a tavern welcomes; this skill converts that latent sonic material into prompts you can paste into a music generator — and anchors all of them to one campaign audio style bible so the soundtrack coheres instead of drifting scene-to-scene, model-to-model.

This skill is system-agnostic — it deals in mood, instrumentation, tempo, and texture, never stat blocks, item levels, or Archives of Nethys links. Like rpg-npc-creator, rpg-artifact-creator, and rpg-art-director, it works for any system. It is the sonic analogue of rpg-art-director: same shape, different sense.

The default tone is dark-leaning (level 3 of 5) — the sonic register inherits the campaign's tone; it does not reset it. See references/style-bible.md.

The honest boundary — this skill writes prompts, not music

Music generation is not callable from here. The project's local pipeline (local/gen-music.py → ComfyUI on :8000, running Stable Audio Open for instrumental tracks) is a manual step the GM runs, and there is no MCP tool that generates audio. Sung scenes go to Suno (best vocals; web UI only — no public API — so the skill emits a paste-ready prompt). So this skill emits the prompt + a soundtrack manifest and documents the path to realize it — exactly the narrative-handout pattern (rpg-art-director, rpg-journal-forge): you generate the track, drop it into the Foundry data dir, and an existing forge skill (rpg-soundscape-forge) binds it to the scene. The skill never calls ComfyUI, Suno, or Foundry itself; it says so plainly and hands off. See references/output-template.md → "Realizing the soundtrack."

The core idea — sonic coherence AND every track serving the scene

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
