wave6-baker-set-component-enabled

wave6-baker-set-component-enabled is a skill for Claude Code from dyCuong03/unity-agent-team. It costs 36 tokens per session (596 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Unity baking pattern for choosing whether an entity component starts enabled or disabled. Baking prepares authoring data for the game before runtime.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when different authored game objects need an entity component to begin active or inactive, such as a carry component that starts disabled.
Why use it?
It avoids adding a one-time runtime check just to set an initial state, while keeping the component available but inactive when needed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00036 $0.00596
Opus 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00238
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00119
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00060

Security

Grade A, and why

wave6-baker-set-component-enabled scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Baker.SetComponentEnabled — Bake-Time Initial State

Intent

Set the initial enabled state of an IEnableableComponent at bake time using Baker.SetComponentEnabled(), avoiding runtime first-frame conditionals.

Use When

  • Entity should start with a component present but inactive (e.g., Carry component exists but disabled until grabbed)
  • Initial enabled state varies per authoring instance

Avoid When

  • All instances start enabled — AddComponent default is enabled; SetComponentEnabled unnecessary
  • Initial state must be set at runtime based on dynamic data — use ISystemStartStop.OnStartRunning

Senior Pattern

public class BallAuthoring : MonoBehaviour
{
    public bool startCarried;
}

public class BallBaker : Baker<BallAuthoring>
{
    public override void Bake(BallAuthoring authoring)
    {
        var entity = GetEntity(TransformUsageFlags.Dynamic);

        // Component must be added before SetComponentEnabled:
        AddComponent<Carry>(entity);
        SetComponentEnabled<Carry>(entity, authoring.startCarried);  // false = present but inactive

        AddComponent<Ball>(entity);
    }
}

Anti-Patterns

  • Calling SetComponentEnabled before AddComponent — exception; component must exist first.
  • Omitting SetComponentEnabled when default-disabled is required — AddComponent always starts enabled.
  • Using a runtime system to set initial state when it could be baked — unnecessary first-frame overhead and potential one-frame visible error state.
  • Calling SetComponentEnabled with a hard-coded true — this is the default; the call is redundant noise.

Runtime Risks

  • Baker-set enabled state is serialized with SubScene — changing authoring data requires SubScene reimport to take effect.
  • If baking is incremental and only the enabled state changes (not component data), ensure DependsOn() captures the relevant authoring property.

Performance Notes

Zero runtime cost — bake-time operation only. State is embedded in chunk bitmask at SubScene load.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

wave6-baker-set-component-enabled is a skill published in the GitHub repository dyCuong03/unity-agent-team (7 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 36 tokens to every session and 596 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-02.
