CS2_VibeSignatures: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/find-CNetworkGameServer_GetFreeClient/SKILL.md

find-CNetworkGameServer_GetFreeClient is a skill for Claude Code from HLND2T/CS2_VibeSignatures. It costs 73 tokens per session (850 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A fallback procedure for finding a specific function in Counter-Strike 2's compiled game files when an earlier lookup cannot resolve it. It uses IDA Pro, a program for inspecting and decompiling compiled software.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to locate the current free-client allocation function in the Windows or Linux game server library, verify its caller, and save the result for later tooling.
Why use it?
It provides a defined recovery path when the normal function lookup fails and avoids relying on addresses from an older game build.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Fable 5.1 $0.00073 $0.00850
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.00425

Security

Grade A, and why

find-CNetworkGameServer_GetFreeClient scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 79 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Find CNetworkGameServer_GetFreeClient (Agent fallback)

Locate CNetworkGameServer_GetFreeClient in the current CS2 engine2.dll or libengine2.so using IDA Pro MCP tools. The fallback must recover the concrete function called by CNetworkGameServerBase_ConnectClient on its server object; do not infer an address from an old build.

Step 0. Skip an existing output

If CNetworkGameServer_GetFreeClient.<platform>.yaml already exists as a non-empty mapping in the active artifact module directory, skip that platform. The artifact directory is separate from bin; never derive the output path from the binary root.

Step 1. Load the ConnectClient predecessor

Use /get-func-from-yaml with func_name=CNetworkGameServerBase_ConnectClient to obtain the current func_va. If it is unavailable, stop and report that the predecessor is missing.

Decompile that function with IDA Pro MCP. Confirm the first argument is the CNetworkGameServerBase/ CNetworkGameServer server object (rcx on Windows, normally rdi on Linux).

Step 2. Identify the GetFreeClient call

Find the call on the server object's connection path that returns a client pointer immediately before the server-full rejection. The semantic anchors are the error string or equivalent message containing NETWORK_DISCONNECT_REJECT_SERVERFULL and Cannot get free client, and the null check on the call result. The target has the shape:

client = sub_<current>(server, address, 0, steam_id, 0, out_buffer);
if (!client) {
    // disconnect with NETWORK_DISCONNECT_REJECT_SERVERFULL
    // log: "Cannot get free client"
}

Search the exact error text (including format-string variants), enumerate xrefs, and decompile each referencing function if necessary. Follow one caller/callee level when the allocator is outlined. Reject helpers that only log, register a command, or perform unrelated client setup. Confirm that the selected function allocates/selects a free client slot and returns a pointer or null.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

find-CNetworkGameServer_GetFreeClient is a skill published in the GitHub repository HLND2T/CS2_VibeSignatures (65 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 73 tokens to every session and 850 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-06.
