Session scribe
Craig records the table (one audio track per speaker); Foundry's chat log records the mechanics
(every roll, whisper, and card, each with an epoch-ms timestamp). Craig's recording metadata
carries its own startTime — so the two timelines align by pure wall-clock arithmetic. No sync
ritual, no markers, no Discord integration. The user pastes one link; everything else is yours.
The user's contract (locked 2026-07-06, notes-repo memory session-recording-pipeline):
/join Craig at session start → play → /stop → paste Claude the link. That is ALL. Do not ask
them to mark, note, export, or download anything. If they said "mark that" aloud during play, it
is IN the transcript — grep for it.
Machine prerequisites (once per machine)
Run scripts/setup.ps1 (idempotent — installs ffmpeg + uv via winget, builds the
~\.session-scribe\venv with faster-whisper + CUDA wheels, smoke-tests the GPU stack):

SMOKE TEST OK = CUDA works. OK (CPU ONLY) = transcription still works, just slower — on a
new GPU generation this usually means ctranslate2 needs a version bump for the new compute
capability (uv pip install --python ~\.session-scribe\venv\Scripts\python.exe -U ctranslate2),
then re-run the smoke test. Machines verified: RTX 4070 laptop ✅ (2026-07-06), DESKTOP-NY ✅
(2026-08-25, cuda/float16 — ~2.9h × 5 tracks in <5 min, on signed Python 3.13; hardened
setup.ps1 re-verified end-to-end there 2026-08-26, incl. the signed-pick venv-creation path).
Known failure — Windows Application Control blocks the uv-managed Python (hit on DESKTOP-NY
2026-08-25): ImportError: DLL load failed while importing _ctypes: An Application Control policy has blocked this file. The uv/python-build-standalone interpreter's DLLs trip the
policy; a venv on a SIGNED python.org install passes. Fix: winget install Python.Python.3.13
→ delete ~\.session-scribe\venv → re-run setup.ps1 (it prefers the newest signed 3.12+ install
when one exists, and its ctypes probe fails fast with these instructions BEFORE the ~1.3 GB wheel
download — the smoke test would also catch the block, but only after it). faster-whisper + CUDA
wheels work fine on 3.13. Never work around this by touching the App Control policy itself.
If a broken venv was renamed aside as ~\.session-scribe\venv-blocked-* (~1.3 GB each), delete
those backups once the rebuilt venv passes the smoke test — setup.ps1 lists any it finds.
