rpg-journal-forge

rpg-journal-forge is a skill for Claude Code from vstrapasson/rpg-marketplace. It costs 134 tokens per session (1,121 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tool that turns campaign notes into journals in Foundry VTT, a virtual tabletop for running role-playing games. It creates quest, lore, faction, threat-tracker, and campaign-dashboard entries from existing vault content.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to publish quests with NPC links, organize lore and factions, track threats and progress clocks, and create a dashboard based on campaign acts.
Why use it?
It saves the game master from copying and formatting campaign information by hand. It also helps avoid duplicate journals by checking for existing entries first.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00134 $0.01121
Opus 5 $0.00067 $0.00561
Sonnet 5 $0.00027 $0.00224
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00112

Security

Grade A, and why

rpg-journal-forge scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

RPG Journal Forge — quests, lore, dashboard

What this skill is for

Realize the vault's narrative entities as Foundry journals. Content comes from the vault notes' bodies + relations — you format and enrich, you don't invent plot.

Workflow

  1. Prefer existing. search-journals/list-journals by title before creating; if it exists, update-quest-journal instead of duplicating. (references/prefer-existing-journals.md.)
  2. Questscreate-quest-journal(...) from foundry-args.questFieldsFromVault (title, description from body, giver, rewards from items; enrich description/type/difficulty as judgment). Then link-quest-to-npc(journalId, npcName, relationship)giverquest_giver, listed npcstarget/contact/enemy as the lore implies. Link only after the NPC exists (the conductor orders NPC actors/journals first when possible).
  3. Lore / faction / front → there is NO plain "create journal" MCP tool, so use create-quest-journal as a GENERIC journal (a titled HTML entry); see references/journal-mapping.md. A frente becomes a threat-tracker journal; its relogio clocks become pages/sections (segments/filled/status).
  4. Dashboard → one create-campaign-dashboard from the acts (foundry-args.dashboardTemplateForActs): template: "custom" with a chapter part per ato, or five-part-adventure if no acts. Supply campaign title/description (judgment, from the campaign-bible if present).
  5. Narrative locations → for a narrativeLocals local (a story place with no encounter), make a journal handout (folder Locations): the location body as read-aloud + an <img> for an image the user generated separately; remind the GM to Show Players. (See references/journal-mapping.md.)
  6. Folders → set folderName on every create per the hybrid convention (foundry-args.journalFolder): quests by act, the rest by type. Record the folder in the manifest.
  7. Return { journalId | dashboardId, folder, linkedNpcs } per entity to the conductor.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
