game-audio-2d

game-audio-2d is a skill for Codex from woliveiras/geremmyas. It costs 56 tokens per session (475 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A system for managing music, ambience, sound effects, voice, and other audio in a 2D game. It covers how sounds are triggered, mixed, limited, paused, faded, and cleaned up.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add or change game music, ambience, sound effects, voice playback, audio buses, volume controls, crossfades, spatial sound, and concurrency rules.
Why use it?
It prevents overlapping sounds, inconsistent volume, broken transitions, and audio that continues after gameplay objects or scenes disappear. It also keeps audio behavior consistent across platforms.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00056 $0.00475
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00237
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00095
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00047

Security

Grade A, and why

game-audio-2d scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Game Audio 2D

Treat audio as a routed gameplay system with explicit ownership, priorities, and platform behavior.

Establish the audio contract

  1. Inspect engine version, target platforms, current mixer or Sound Manager, asset formats, loading strategy, and settings persistence.
  2. Classify sounds as music, ambience, gameplay SFX, voice, or UI.
  3. Define trigger, ownership, concurrency, priority, loop, fade, spatial, pause, and cleanup behavior.
  4. Set a loudness and headroom policy appropriate to the project.

Load references

  • Read audio-system.md for categories, playback policies, mixing, variation, and validation.
  • For Phaser, also read phaser.md.
  • For Godot, also read godot.md.
  • Use $game-save-n-progress for settings persistence and $game-feel-2d for impact timing.

Integrate one audio family

  1. Register stable semantic audio IDs.
  2. Route through a category or bus.
  3. Apply concurrency and priority rules.
  4. Trigger from authoritative gameplay or UI events.
  5. Handle pause, scene transitions, interruption, and object destruction.
  6. Provide user volume and mute controls without destroying mix ratios.
  7. Verify the actual target platform.

Verify

  • Test missing files, locked audio, rapid repeated triggers, scene reload, pause, focus loss, and device changes where applicable.
  • Check loops for clicks and unintended gaps.
  • Monitor clipping, masking, excessive simultaneity, and memory.
  • Test with music, effects, and UI active together.
  • Keep listening tests distinct from automated routing and lifecycle tests.

Guardrails

  • Do not play an unrestricted new instance for every overlap callback.
  • Do not tie essential information to sound alone.
  • Do not let global music survive scenes accidentally.
  • Do not normalize every sound to maximum amplitude.
  • Do not assume editor or desktop audio behavior matches web exports.
Files

What ships with it

4 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
