threejs-asset-pipeline

threejs-asset-pipeline is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from CloudAI-X/threejs-skills. It costs 76 tokens per session (4,627 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command-line workflow for inspecting, validating, and shrinking glTF 3D models before loading them in Three.js. glTF is a format for delivering 3D scenes and their assets to applications and browsers.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to optimize meshes and textures with Draco, meshopt, quantization, KTX2, WebP, or AVIF, then load the output in Three.js or React.
Why use it?
It reduces asset size and checks the optimized result while identifying the loader setup required for compressed models and textures.

About the project

Three.js Skills is a set of skill files that gives Claude Code current guidance and working examples for Three.js, a JavaScript library used to create 3D scenes and graphics in web applications. It is for developers who want generated code to match the Three.js release they install and avoid outdated APIs. The catalogue entry consists of ten skills covering areas such as scenes, geometry, materials, lighting, and textures.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00076 $0.04627
Opus 5.5 $0.00030 $0.01851
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00925
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00463

Security

Grade A, and why

threejs-asset-pipeline scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 240 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Three.js Asset Pipeline

Targets three.js r186. Examples use WebGLRenderer; the WebGPU and TSL section uses WebGPURenderer.

Quick Start

Compress on the command line, then load the result. Run inspect before and after to see what the pass saved:

npx @gltf-transform/cli inspect model.glb
npx @gltf-transform/cli optimize model.glb model.opt.glb --compress draco --texture-compress webp --texture-size 2048
npx @gltf-transform/cli inspect model.opt.glb

Draco output needs a DRACOLoader attached; WebP textures decode in the browser:

import * as THREE from "three";
import { GLTFLoader } from "three/addons/loaders/GLTFLoader.js";
import { DRACOLoader } from "three/addons/loaders/DRACOLoader.js";

const renderer = new THREE.WebGLRenderer({ antialias: true });
renderer.setPixelRatio(window.devicePixelRatio);
renderer.setSize(window.innerWidth, window.innerHeight);
document.body.appendChild(renderer.domElement);

const scene = new THREE.Scene();
const sun = new THREE.DirectionalLight(0xffffff, 2); // glTF PBR materials render black without lights or an environment
sun.position.set(3, 5, 2);
scene.add(sun, new THREE.HemisphereLight(0xffffff, 0x444444, 1.5));

const camera = new THREE.PerspectiveCamera(50, window.innerWidth / window.innerHeight, 0.1, 100);
camera.position.set(2, 1.5, 3);
camera.lookAt(0, 0, 0);

const gltf = await new GLTFLoader()
  .setDRACOLoader(new DRACOLoader()) // the Draco WASM decoder loads from the three package
  .loadAsync("model.opt.glb");
scene.add(gltf.scene);

function animate() {
  renderer.render(scene, camera);
}

renderer.setAnimationLoop(animate);

Inspect and Validate

Never guess where the bytes are. inspect prints an overview (generator, extensionsUsed, extensionsRequired) and one table each for scenes, meshes, materials, textures and animations, so a geometry-heavy file and a texture-heavy file are obvious at a glance.

npx @gltf-transform/cli inspect model.glb
npx @gltf-transform/cli inspect model.opt.glb --format csv
npx @gltf-transform/cli validate model.glb --ignore ACCESSOR_WEIGHTS_NON_NORMALIZED

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

threejs-asset-pipeline is a skill published in the GitHub repository CloudAI-X/threejs-skills (3,661 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 76 tokens to every session and 4,627 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-20.
