gsp-hud-readability-audit

gsp-hud-readability-audit is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from mike007jd/game-superpowers. It costs 27 tokens per session (310 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A checklist for reviewing a game's heads-up display, the on-screen layer that shows information and controls during play. It evaluates readability, visual priority, control discovery, clutter, overlap, and mobile thumb reach.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to assess game HUDs and overlays, including menus and pause screens, from screenshots or layout code, while distinguishing observed issues from inferences.
Why use it?
It helps find interface problems that can hide important game state or make controls difficult to understand and use.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00027 $0.00310
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.00155
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00062
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00031

Security

Grade A, and why

gsp-hud-readability-audit scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Game HUD Readability Audit

Goal

Audit the heads-up display and overlay layer for readability, hierarchy, and actionable clarity.

Outputs

Follow the gsp-orchestrator output strategy:

  • inline (default): present findings in conversation.
  • minimal or full: write to docs/game-studio/audit/ux-findings.md, docs/game-studio/audit/audit-summary.md, docs/game-studio/audit/scorecard.json.

Use:

  • ./shared/checklists/hud-readability-audit-checklist.md
  • ./shared/checklists/ui-ux-hard-rules.md
  • ./shared/reference/audit-confidence-and-evidence.md

Evaluate

  • information priority and hierarchy
  • readability of numbers, labels, and state cues
  • button affordance and control discoverability
  • text density and clutter
  • overlap between HUD and playfield
  • persistent HUD budget discipline
  • mobile thumb-zone or one-handed pressure
  • whether essential state is hidden, delayed, or over-explained
  • whether menu / pause / overlay states fight gameplay readability

Important

If screenshots are unavailable, state which claims are inferred from code or layout structure rather than observed directly. Call out explicit hard-rule violations when the playfield, focus, or safe-area behavior is likely wrong.

Files

What ships with it

8 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
