rpgmaker-localization

rpgmaker-localization is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Xerolo44/RPG-Maker-MV-MCP. It costs 44 tokens per session (618 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A translation workflow for RPG Maker MV games that exports all translatable text to CSV or JSON and imports the completed translations. RPG Maker MV is a tool for building role-playing games, and control codes are special markers that affect how game text is displayed.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to export, translate, review, validate, and import text from maps, events, battles, menus, and game databases.
Why use it?
It makes it possible to translate game dialogue and labels while preserving those display markers and checking changes before applying them.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00044 $0.00618
Opus 5.5 $0.00018 $0.00247
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00124
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00062

Security

Grade A, and why

rpgmaker-localization scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 13d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 27 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Localization workflow

Tools

  • export_texts {format: "csv" | "json", scope?, file?} writes every translatable string to a file inside the project (default localization/texts.csv) and reports counts per category. Rows are key, context, original, translation.
  • import_texts {file, dryRun?} applies the translation column. Dry run is the default: it reports what would change, which keys are unknown and which originals no longer match the project. Apply with dryRun: false.

What is exported

Database names, descriptions, nicknames, profiles and battle messages; System terms and type names; the game title and currency; map display names; and event text - dialogue boxes (one row per message box, lines joined by newlines), choice labels, scrolling text, and the actor name/nickname/profile commands - in maps, common events and troop battle events.

Steps

  1. export_texts (optionally with scope, e.g. ["maps"]).
  2. Translate the translation column row by row. Leave a cell empty to keep the original. For big games work in batches by reading the file in chunks.
  3. import_texts with dryRun: true, review the report, then apply.
  4. validate_project, then playtest_start and read a few scenes.

Rules for translators

  • Keep control codes exactly: \C[n] colour, \V[n] variable, \N[n] actor name, \G currency, \I[n] icon, \{ \} size, \. \| \! \^ pauses, \$ gold window, \> \< instant text. Moving them is fine, deleting or altering them is not. (The exported files contain them as written in the game, e.g. \C[2]Hero\C[0].)
  • Keep line length in mind: a message box shows 4 lines and roughly 40-50 characters per line at the default font. A translation with more than 4 lines is split into extra message boxes on import (no text is lost, but check the pacing).
  • Do not translate key or context. If original differs from the project, the text changed after export - re-export or review before importing that row.
  • Names used by code (plugin parameters, note tags <...>) are not exported on purpose.
  • CJK languages need a font that supports them (set in fonts/ and gamefont.css).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
