hayba-material-look-pass

hayba-material-look-pass is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from zajalist/hayba. It costs 30 tokens per session (274 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for adjusting an existing Unreal Engine material or material instance to meet a specific visual target. It checks the material graph, exposed settings, compilation, and same-view before-and-after captures.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps tune surface color, roughness, response, or readability; prefer an instance parameter when available; validate and compile graph edits; compare under the same lighting; and inspect affected references.
Why use it?
It reduces accidental changes to shared materials and prevents a successful compile from being treated as proof that the surface looks right. It also shows which other assets may be affected by a shared source change.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00030 $0.00274
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00110
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00055
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00027

Security

Grade A, and why

hayba-material-look-pass scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 13d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Material look pass

When to use

Use for a specific surface whose roughness, color, response, or readability needs improvement. Gather the intended lighting context and preserve any shared master material used by other assets.

Tool routing

  • Inspect the target with material_get_info and capture its current appearance using editor_capture_viewport. If a material instance already exposes the right parameter, prefer material_set_param over editing the shared graph.
  • When graph work is needed, inspect exact nodes and outputs before a small edit. Run material_validate before material_compile; then capture again under the same lighting and camera. Do not infer that compilation means the visual target was met.
  • If the target affects many assets, list impacted references with asset_get_referencers before changing a shared source.

Evidence

Record the material path, parameters or graph nodes changed, validation and compile result, impacted assets, and same-view before/after captures. Stop after one focused look pass and a correction pass; ask for a design choice when two looks both satisfy the brief.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
