assets-find-built-in

assets-find-built-in is a skill for Claude Code from IvanMurzak/Unity-MCP. It costs 45 tokens per session (1,001 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A search tool for assets included with the Unity game engine, such as textures and other reusable project resources. It finds them by name or by Unity type, but not by GUID.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to search Unity’s built-in asset collection, rank matching filenames, limit the result count, and optionally restrict results to a type such as a texture.
Why use it?
It helps locate Unity’s built-in resources when you know part of an asset’s name or its kind but do not know the exact filename.

About the project

Unity-MCP connects AI coding agents to the Unity game engine through MCP, letting them work with the Unity Editor and running games. It is used by game developers to generate code, automate development and testing, debug projects, and add AI-driven behavior to games. The catalogue entries provide skills, instructions, an MCP integration, and settings for operating this workflow.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00045 $0.01001
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00500
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00200
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00100

Security

Grade A, and why

assets-find-built-in scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Assets / Find (Built-in)

Search the built-in assets of the Unity Editor located in the built-in resources: Resources/unity_builtin_extra. Doesn't support GUIDs since built-in assets do not have them.

Inputs

  • name (optional) — case-insensitive name fragment. Underscores, hyphens, spaces, and periods delimit search words so partial-word matching works.
  • type (optional) — restrict results to assets assignable to this type (e.g. UnityEngine.Texture2D).
  • maxResults — cap on returned list size (default 10).

Ranking

Results are sorted by descending match quality: exact match → substring match → all-words match → partial-words match. Within a rank, results are sorted alphabetically by filename for stable ordering.

How to Call

unity-mcp-cli run-tool assets-find-built-in --input '{
  "name": "string_value",
  "type": "string_value",
  "maxResults": 0
}'

For complex input (multi-line strings, code), save the JSON to a file and use:

unity-mcp-cli run-tool assets-find-built-in --input-file args.json

Or pipe via stdin (recommended):

unity-mcp-cli run-tool assets-find-built-in --input-file - <<'EOF'
{"param": "value"}
EOF

Troubleshooting

If unity-mcp-cli is not found, either install it globally (npm install -g unity-mcp-cli) or use npx unity-mcp-cli instead. Read the /unity-initial-setup skill for detailed installation instructions.

Input

Name Type Required Description
name string No The name of the asset to filter by.
type any No The type of the asset to filter by.
maxResults integer No Maximum number of assets to return. If the number of found assets exceeds this limit, the result will be truncated.

Input JSON Schema

    },

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
