orbital-hud-motion

orbital-hud-motion is a skill for Claude Code from RobLe3/cc-blender-skill. It costs 71 tokens per session (518 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A method for designing subtle circular interface-style graphics and glowing rings around a Blender subject. The rings, dots, and arcs are kept separate from the main model.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to animate halos, orbit markers, scanner rings, arcs, dashes, dots, and aura effects around a logo or mascot.
Why use it?
It keeps decorative motion tied to the subject and prevents random-looking effects from overpowering it. Separate layers also prevent background effects from becoming part of the avatar.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00071 $0.00518
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.00259
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00104
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00052

Security

Grade A, and why

orbital-hud-motion scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/orbit_layout_manifest.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Orbital HUD Motion

Decorative circles are design elements, not filler. They must be derived from the reference composition and support the subject.

Design rules

  • Keep the avatar/subject dominant; rings should frame, not trap or overpower it.
  • Derive radii, arc breaks, marker positions, and dash density from the reference image when possible.
  • Separate layers:
    • far/background aura: faint, slow, soft;
    • mid orbit: thin arcs/dashes;
    • markers/dots: sparse and synchronized;
    • foreground accents: rare and short-lived.
  • Prefer opacity/emission/dash phase over large rotation/scale changes.
  • Never animate all rings in the same direction/speed; use subtle counter-motion/parallax.
  • Do not include context rings in the base avatar mesh/export unless explicitly requested.

Animation recipe

  1. Create an HUD_CONTEXT collection separate from AVATAR_BASE.
  2. Build arcs/dots from a manifest of normalized radii and angles.
  3. Keyframe:
    • dash offset or arc reveal;
    • emission strength pulse;
    • subtle rotation (1–12 degrees per loop, not full spin unless requested);
    • marker opacity/scale blips at beats.
  4. Render a contact sheet with subject-only and with-HUD views.
  5. Reject if rings obscure the face/silhouette or dominate the frame.

Hard rules

  • No random full circles when the reference has broken arcs/dashed guides.
  • No oversized markers unless the source has them.
  • No HUD animation until static avatar baseline is locked.
  • For GLB, use object transforms/material keyframes or document runtime requirements.

Scripts

  • scripts/orbit_layout_manifest.py creates a source-independent orbit manifest from simple radii/angle parameters.
Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

orbital-hud-motion is a skill published in the GitHub repository RobLe3/cc-blender-skill (58 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 71 tokens to every session and 518 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
