asset-source

asset-source is a skill for Claude Code from dcc-mcp/dcc-mcp-core. It costs 47 tokens per session (473 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A gateway for searching an asset catalogue and returning a standard description of a usable asset, including its local path and attribution. It is designed to pass assets between digital-content tools.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to search for assets such as tables, resolve a matching entry, and pass it to another tool that imports the asset into a scene.
Why use it?
It gives downstream tools a consistent asset format instead of requiring each tool to handle catalogue results differently.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00047 $0.00473
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00236
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00095
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00047

Security

Grade A, and why

asset-source scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/search_assets.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

asset-source

Gateway skill for searching and resolving assets into a validated AssetDescriptor ready for cross-DCC import. The demo source returns static catalog entries keyed by asset name. Production sources can layer download helpers or remote resolution on top without changing the contract.

Tools

Tool Category Description
search_assets Query Search the asset catalog and return matching AssetDescriptor entries

The skill uses dcc_mcp_core.AssetDescriptor (from the shared dcc_mcp_core.asset_import contract) as the wire format so every downstream DCC adapter speaks the same shape.

Gateway flow

search_skills("asset import") → load_skill("asset-source") → call("search_assets", {query: "table"})
→ AssetDescriptor → load_skill("blender-import-to-scene") → call("import_to_scene", {descriptor: ...})
Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

It adds 47 tokens to every session and 473 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
